Jazz Stroud : Ariwo / Anchorsong / Mermaid Chunky

SVA, Goods Shed

Friday 25 May 2018 19:30

Ariwo are a Cuban/Iranian four-piece focused on intersection between electronic and ancestral music. The band brings together Iranian electronic composer Pouya Ehsaei and three of London’s most influential Cuban musicians.

Anchorsong – aka Masaaki Yoshida - has become globally recognised for his unique live shows, which many people have described as "like watching a painter drawing on a white canvas", as he creates electronic music completely live using a sampler (MPC2500) and a keyboard, right in front of the audience

Mermaid Chunky
With it’s roots in contemporary art, this outfit's performances are made up of tailor made art film projections accompanied by sound scapes of drum machines, synthesisers, saxophone, recorder, wind up toys, robotic cats and floating lyrical phrases.
